So, it airs. The second season of Haruhi. When the first season of Haruhi aired, I was quite baffled by the stunning quality of the series and somewhat interesting ideas. Not just another school love comedy series... that's what I felt when I watched it. However, now that the second season airs, I just don't feel that same feeling anymore. Maybe it's because I've seen so many high quality series after the first season aired thanks to technology advance, but it probably has more to do with the "fake rumors" that really ticked me off. Why couldn't they just announce the second season? Or just confirm that things are not ready? What's up with "re-broadcast"? sigh...
Anyways, new episode looks pretty consistent with the first season. It feels like I'm watching the continuation of the first season. I guess that's a good thing, except I haven't been following the re-broadcast version of the Haruhi this season, so it feels a little abrupt for me to suddenly watch this episode in the middle of nowhere.
In this episode, Kyon and Mikuru time travels to 3 years before(possibly the reason why they freakin dragged it 3 years to air the second season). Kyon helps Haruhi draw the message on school ground. After Haruhi hears about weird girl in Kita High school(Haruhi), she ponders over the idea of meeting someone like her then leaves. Mikuru who was asleep until then wakes up and realizes that she lost the equipment needed to time travel. Kyon goes to Nagato's place to get help and comes back to present.
Well, I already read the novel, so there wasn't really a surprise here. It was well paced and well directed, just like the first season. Nothing really exciting happened though. Neither anything fancy. I do feel nostalgic about it so I guess it did it's job on bringing me back on the series. I'm still pissed about all the rumors they spread until now, but I guess I'll follow the series for now.
By the way, new DVDs of Haruhi is coming out. Yeah, no Blu-ray. What deep shits. I'm not buying it.
