Mar.8/2010: I'm back
Small Talk / 2010/03/08 12:57
I'm back. A little earlier than I previously said, but I got enough time to cool my head. Anyways, here are some major stuff I updated on twitter:
- Summer Wars Blu-ray screenshots:

Decent, but I would have liked to see something sharper from a theatrical release. Toki-kake was understandable, considering the production date, but Summer Wars premiered last year!
- Gunslinger Season 1 Funimation release screenshots: HERE
Ah, well, I didn't expect much. SD upscale + DNR. Not as bad as some of the other shows though.
- Gunslinger Season 2 Funimation release screenshots: HERE
Now, it was confirmed that Funi got the HD master. However, the look of these screenshots is utter crap. Way too much EE. Apparently, R2 DVDs had the same issue, so I'm guessing it is the problem of the master itself. Can't really blame Funimation for this.
- Kurokami US release screenshots: HERE
Looks good, but with English only audio track, they won't sell well.
- Heroman PV: Link (go to menu--> movie)
Bones Quality = Awesome. I think we established that long time ago. That said, their previous TV series have been criticized for low resolution(higher than SD level but lower than 720p apparently) so I hope they have made an improvement on that.
*p.s1: First thing that came up in my my mind when I saw the mecha design: Captain America. I'm kinda curious about how Japanese ppl will react to this.
*p.s2: Why is Disney involved in this?;;; I know they own Marvel, but I thought this was separate? Perhaps funding issue?
- It seems like Blu-ray is planned for Arakawa Under the Bridge: Link
As you can see, release section already have BD category. For most series, they usually have DVD section only before the confirmation, so this should be a good indication of BD release.
- Mardock Scramble character designer changed: Link
Well, this was to be expected, but I guess somewhere deep inside my heart, I did hope for a miracle. I'm not particularly fond of the new character design. I read the first volume of the novel and the story takes place in a distopia-like SF world, and I would have liked a character design that suits that image. Anyways, PV will be shown on TAF, so I'll hold off my judgement for now.
