I had high expectation for this series. Character design similar to Beck and Paradise Kiss, probably influenced by the director. I liked the character design of the mentioned series so I didn't mind that. I think real photo-like background and character design matched better than I originally thought. Scenery looked pretty nice which I think is an important part of a show like this. BGM, OP/ED were pretty good. I think it matched the series pretty well.
What I had problem with was the pacing. Story is fine. I don't mind how they proceeded here (though it kinda looks like an indi-film time to time). However, pacing was just darn slow. I'm really tired today so it might be affecting the way I watch the show, but I think it was way too slow. I guess it kinda fits the mood of the countryside, but if this keeps up, I'm not sure if I'll be able to enjoy the show. I checked the time several times while watching the first episode.
