Well, first episode turned out to be an original episode. Not a bad one, especially if you know some background story of the original manga. You get to see lot of the familiar faces including Kimberly and I think that might be the reason why they decided to use an original episode as ep1. Most of the action scenes we saw from CM and previews were actually from episode 1, so I was quite surprised.
While character design and voice actors/actresses changed, I didn't have hard time getting used to them, EXCEPT for Mustang and Armstrong. And I heard Armstrong's voice actor didn't change, but for some reason, I just couldn't get used to it. I'm sure I'll get used to them soon enough though.
OP was... well, not the best one I've heard, but it wasn't bad. ED sounded fine but what's with the animation sequence ^^;; BGM overall was decent. Animation quality, is just as what you would expect from Bones. Visually, you probably can't complain other than changed character design, which you will get used to eventually. There were some interesting changes in style. One was comic book like text popping up on the screen. Somethings didn't change though, such as "this shrimp is FMA?" gag. ^^
Anyways, I'm quite tired (well, it's around 5 AM here, so I can't help it) so I'll leave it there. Funimation will be streaming this every week, so I suggest you take a look at that. I'll be probably following this series using their streaming service from now on. Please support them if you like the series.
