Visually, this is probably the best animation I've seen recently. Bones really pulled it off this time. Eye popping action scenes and unique color, character design and background(Very Holloween like). I don't think I've ever seen any shonen anime with this kind of quality and action. This alone should be a good reason for one to give this show a try. BGM is mostly trendy techno music. It matches the animation style. OP by TM revolution is... TM revolution. I personally like most TM revolution stuff so I like it. ED is pretty good too but it is not for everyone. Though I really enjoyed the series, I found some of the script really awkward. It is like they are trying to explain the concept to the viewers. I see this often in many anime but I can never get used to it. I hate it. Many didn't like the voice acting of Maka and Soul saying that they are novice. I do admit that sometimes they sound a little weird (mostly Maka...) but overall, I thought it was very matching to the series and the character. I was rather annoyed by the Shinigami-sama's voice, but it seems like everyone like his vioce -_-;;; By the way he is the same guy doing the voice for Kogarashi from Maid Guy. Whatever, I'm weird.
Now, second episode seems like it is Black's Star's story. I personally like Black Star and Death the kid more than Maka and Soul. So I'll be looking forward to the next episode. The thing about this series though, is that I'm not too fond of the original manga's story line. I read this manga because I really liked the character design and unique drawing style, but I always found the story a little lacking. Partly I blame for random sub-stories that doesn't really connect well to the overall-arc. Recent volumes got a lot more interesting but until then, I didn't find the story too great.
That said, anime seems to be shuffling around some of the stories, so maybe I might enjoy it more than the manga this way. (My bad. Black Star story does come right after in the manga too.)It seems like it will be 51 episodes so I expect some good story development. After all, this is the company behind FMA. I expect this to be as good or better.
